I’m Katherine Marvin, and I’m the owner and operator of The Pattern Detective. I install wallpaper, remove wallpaper, and do interior painting in the Portland, Oregon area. Wallpapering is a craft with centuries of history and I’m proud to be a part of it. The right paper can transform a space like nothing else, and I’d love to bring my knowledge and expertise to your project.
In addition to the skill and precision that comes with practice, I offer beautiful pattern placement and creative thinking for every home’s unexpected quirks. Older homes especially can be full of surprises both delightful and puzzling. I know this not only having worked in older homes but also having lived in homes built in the 1950s, the 1910s, and the 1890s. I understand the extra stress of finding a new contractor for your older home. Whatever your building’s age, I will give it the respect and care it deserves while I’m working there – and pay particular attention to any special concerns you have and your top priorities.
When you work with me you’ll be supporting a local woman-owned small business. I’m also licensed, bonded, and insured with the Oregon CCB (Construction Contractors Board) as a Residential Specialty Contractor (CCB# 245259).
